Taking off from a platform with a full load on a hot day....lets just say that you really have to trust translational lift to move out of hover in ground effect and then dive at the water to gain speed. Also had an autorotation demonstration one day from a bored pilot. But, the guys I flew with were all trained in Vietnam, Republic of.
