I'd go to the toy store and get a can of that nickelodeon ooze that my kid likes and a banana from the grocery and hand it to him. Then ask him if that was what he was looking for.
Well, my first response would be "blink" blink" with the eyes. That sorta vapour locks the brain doesn't it?
You take a banana, clip a large binder clip to the end of it, hand it to him and say "You mean one of these?"
Of course if he's black and you do that you're obviously a racist....
I probably would have just given him a blank stare. But then again, it has been a while since I've worked with the public.

I'm guessing that the chances are good that this particular customer would not have the requisite reading and writing skills to properly file out the transfer forms.
