This guy really asked this.
Allow me to quote. This is unedited and as I got it.
"i really dont know what the type is but you see gang members use them like on the street there called oozy's with a bannanna clip do you have these?"
How do you respond to this? Srsly.

The Looter Religion
I was watching The Weather Channel of all things this morning. They were doing a "news" blurb on the big snow fall up in Minneapolis. They were getting sound bites from some of the people who'd had their cars towed because of the snow emergency. One lady said "Towing my car in the middle of the night is a SIN!", not wrong, not unfair, not mean, not even petty. A Sin.
and of course, this got me thinking.
This may be what's so hard for me to understand about that mindset. They've worked so hard to remove religion of any kind from their lives or the lives of anyone remotely near them. Only to replace it with this weird sort of quasi-religious belief that they are some sort of deity. Anything done that hurts/angers/inconveniences them violates the prime commandment of their religion: Thou Shalt Not Not Cater to My Whims.
Interesting religion indeed.
If I understand what happened, and I doubt that I really do, in order to remove one god they had to elevate someone or thing into it's place. Why they thought this would be the best course, I couldn't fathom. But there it is. The most convenient idol at hand was their own ego. I guess it makes sense. Sort of, if you squint really hard and hold your nose.
Mind you, I'm not saying everyone did this, some took on the religion of The Green, or the religion of The Nanny State, or the religion of whatever the talking head tells them the current One True Religion is. But the one commandment still holds true.
The situation is as bad or worse than jihadists and other religious extremists. No matter what you say or how you say it, unless you're in lock step with them and their religion, whatever that may be, you're breaking The Commandment. And The Commandment is the ultimate in personalization.
This is why there can't be anything like reasoned discourse with them. Everything is personal, everything is too emotionally invested for them to talk about anything but the feelings associated with the issue. Everything is self-centric. When you're the god of your universe you don't need to explain why something is, it just is.

I think it's Murphy's law or something.
As soon as I say there's nothing to write about, something pops up.
Today, very quietly, the great zero and his regime changed the sentencing guidelines for crack cocaine (possession, used or distribution). They lowered them to be the same as regular cocaine. Are you ready for the reason? I love this chain ofillogic... Crack cocaine is a drug predominately used by lower economic classes (read blacks, African Americans, whatever) and the people being hit hardest by these tougher sentences are the same people living in those neighborhoods. Which means that those tougher sentences are being imposed on the minorities (read blacks, etc. again) and that makes them racist.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the original idea behind making the crack cocaine sentences harsher was because it was a drug "preying on the poor and disenfranchised or our great land" (again read Afri.... oh, you get the drill). And the tougher sentences were supposed to "stamp out this plague of our inner cities"
So, the drug was racist and the sentencing guidelines are racists and the -0 isn't not racists and I'm racists for even daring to think about the great anointed one because he's not racist for being something that I can't possibly understand because I'm not a wise Latina woman and therefore genetically inferior even though we were taught that the Nazi's said that and they were wrong, so wrong for calling anyone inferior to anyone else, but it's okay for the democrats to say that because they're liberal and therefore more enlightened and superior to us flyover hicks but they would never say that out loud or at least where anyone who is a wrong_thinker might overhear and is this mic on?

A rose by any other name....
Much like Global Warming (TM, Al Gore) became Global Climate Change (TM, Al Gore) after the science just wouldn't hold up to the light of scrutiny.
The 0's Health Care Reform(TM) has become Health Insurance Reform(TM).
Do you think that they're figuring out that the lies just aren't being swallowed as easily as the campaign promises were?

Beer Diplomacy
Today, we witnessed the dawning of a new era in politics.
Well, not really. What we saw was the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES engaging two men from a relatively small community in a conversation. You'd think the man in charge of the most powerful (so far) nation on earth would have something better to do. Like, um, run the country?
Here's my take on this. The "0" is in over his head, he's realizing it, so he's going back to what he has experience in. Namely, community activism.
Here's a man who spent less than 200 days in his senate seat voting "present" before he started running for the oval office. Prior to that the biggest bullet point on his resume was as a community organizer in Chicago.
He's figured out he's over his head. His handlers know that to, so to try to give him some sort of victory in office, no matter how small, they've orchestrated this minor news blurb in a Cambridge Police Blotter into a national news item/photo op.
Okay, let's get constitutional for a bit here. The Constitution (you remember that bit of paper) pretty clearly defines the powers and duties of the office of the president of this country. I just reread that section. I didn't see community organizer there anywhere. But don't take my word for it, read it for yourself. I'll wait.
Done? Good.
And even if the incident had required a response from the White House, don't you think that it could have been handled at a lower pay grade than this one? It has that stench of micro-management to me. But I guess will all the czars that the 0 has appointed to run all the other aspects of the golem that we've created that is the federal government, he's pretty much only got this on his honey-do's list.
The paranoid hind-brain of mine keeps knocking me with this little idea too.
If 0bama's press conferences are heavily scripted. And if the media is so in the tank for him that they wouldn't deviate from the script. Who let that question be asked and what are they trying to distract us from?

Stumper of the day.
Can anyone identify this holster. I picked it up today at the Surplus store. It fits my 1911a1 like a dream, but I can't find anything that looks like it on the web. I'm trying to identify era and/or theater.
Thanks

Thanks
By the way, I picked it up for $15 including the web belt.

Too much.
Okay, Sotomayor, "Pro-life" nutjob murders doc in KS, what looks to be a 4 way war over who will be the rabid drooling GOP spokesman-of-doom for the dailykos'ers to rail over, the strange corelation of Clinton supporters and closings of GM dealerships. There's a lot going on out there. What got me this week was....
are you ready?....
The big 0 and his wife going to dinner and a play.
What?, you say.
Well, let's think about this. After the 0 accidentally the whole economy, he's done what?
Flown a pizza maker and his partner by private jet to meet him in a third city to make around 10-15 pies for him and his staff.
Completely freaked out 80% of the city of New York because the pic of Airforce One flying over Mt. Rushmore wasn't to his liking. You know Mt. Rushmore. That's the sculpture that has a bust of the other famous president from IL. (That may have been a sly move to bolster the psychiatric and psychological practices in the city.)
In his defense, he did scrap the proposed replacement to Marine One. That's the presidential helicopter. That'll save a couple of million... I'd hope.
No, this time the President took Airforce One and went to JFK airport so he and his wife could enjoy a nice 4 star dinner and then catch a play.
(No I will not make a crack about the Ford Theater here.)
In case none of you got that, he flew into JFK. One of the busiest airports in the country. Also a major hub for international flights to Europe. So, standard security practice says that they shut down the airspace around the airport during the approach and arrival as well as departure of the big blue bird. Let's say they did it for the minimum I've ever seen. That would be 15 minutes PRIOR to the start of the arrival and would extend to 15 minutes after departure. Let's assume that JFK is like the other top 20 busiest airports and does an arrival every 2 minutes or so with departures in between. Okay, quick math, 30 minutes plus the let's call it 15 for the arrival, plus another 6 for the approach, plus a quick 5 for departure. That's roughly an hour of time that flights can't use the airport. That means just for the time Airforce One is in the area no less than 30 large jets had to be diverted or hold. Plus while the Prez. is on the property no one is allowed outside. Basically the people on the airport are on lock down. So, no planes are getting serviced. Thus no airplanes are departing. Just thinking about the jet fuel burned at 6 bucks a gallon by holding jumbo jets gets pricey. Stay classy 0.
And the fact that JFK is in the densest Class B airspace in the nation with no less than JFK, La Guardia, Tetterboro, Newark, Farmingday and Linden inside the standard 30 mile prohibited zone that goes up around an airport with Airforce One flying into it. That's 6 airports serving international, commercial, cargo, charter, corporate and general aviation that have operations disrupted because the 0 has been working so hard and wants a break. Spending 3 trillion in only 100 days is rough folks. Let me tell you.
Then let's factor in the cost of Airforce One, and the C-5 that goes with it (someone has to carry the bullet proof Suburbans), plus the chartered jet carrying all the press.
And thats just the tip of the iceberg. There were vettings and security sweeps going on for days before the actual trip. Plus, the great pumpkin know what else.
It's no surprise that the White House press secretary doesn't want to say how much the cost of the 0's little jaunt cost... well, us really. It's taxpayer's money after all. I mean, the 0 wouldn't never dream of taking money out of HIS pocket for anything. They're too deep into ours anyway.
And the press secretary's little comment that the 0 would have loved to have taken a commercial shuttle. Well, I'm pretty sure he was told in no uncertain terms that something like that would never happen while he was in office back in January. And, my personal opinion, he probably never even had that thought cross anywhere near his mind.
Again, opinion here, I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of his date didn't run well into the 6 or 7 figures. But hey, that's not even a drop in the bucket of the trillions (that's millions with a 't') he's spending onhis supporters, oops I mean, economic stimulus.
Dinner and a play. It's the little things, really.

A Cause for Concern
I've been seeing rumors all over the web in the last couple of days concerning the incoming administrations first attempts at legislation. Particularly, it seems that it's going to take a swipe at the new AWB. Both Michael Bane and Jim Shepard are reporting these rumors coming from the hill. Others are talking about when not if for this fight. Since an ounce of prevention and all that seems to be smart, I'm going to take a moment out of today to call my Representative John Sullivan and my Senators James Inhofe and Tom Coburn to let them know my concern and stance should this sort of legislation be proposed.
I'm also going to ask that you do the same with your congresscritters. This is one of those times when I feel that leaving it up to the PAC's and lobbyists isn't enough. D.C. should know that there is a vast sea of individuals out there that are wholeheartedly against this sort of attack.
Edit: Made the calls, talked to the legislative aide for the issue in Inhofe's office, left a message with the aide responsible in Coburn's office and left a message with the office manager in Sullivan's office. I tried to sound concerned and non-threatening. But I did say I would be watching this upcoming session and how they were voting.

AR Build Update.
Or The Tail of the Barrel.
I'm getting word from the various AR manufacturers that I'm looking at anywhere from 12 weeks to 9 months for a lead time on the barrel I want.
WTF over?
Edit: This is an official Bleg. If y'all know of anyone out there with a 16" GI contour AR barrel with a mid-length gas block, please let me know.

The lengths people will go to to exhibit their idiocy astounds me. Breda has a post up about the confusion someone has between jewelry and self-defense. Go read it.

Interesting
Via RobertaX I was pointed to this post by FreeThinker. Interesting food for thought. Maybe it's not about change, but about some weird radical socialist manchurian candidate.
Anyhoo, what I like the best was his McCain spot on the left. It gave me a chuckle.

Friday Mind Game.
This weeks friday mind game is...
I command that you shall hear it over and over and over....
Muhahaha ha ha ha haaa
You know, like one of those endless loop tape thingys.
Come on, you've got to have heard of those thing. What, have you been living in a cave all your life?!?
Fine, just hit replay a few times and we'll call it even.
Jeez, some people. How can one be expected to be a halfway descent mad scientist if I've got to work with this!? I mean really....

Just complete idiots
So, today was a long day. Out to N-town and back. Except we had to pull a rest period in the middle. Anyway, it's just after midnight, we're passing through 12,000 ft. on our way back into Tulsa when we get lit up by a green laser at least 3 times. With the last time having the beam bouncing around inside the cockpit. It's always fun trying to pull an approach when you're blinded in one eye. We, of course, are required to report it under Federal regs. This sort of thing happened right after the 9-11 attacks and I think they classed them under terrorist attacks at that time.
I'm a little pissed, if you couldn't tell.

I received this little love note from my cell phone company today. Which pretty much ends my last reason to not switch to another cell phone provider.
Let's see, how can we, as a company, with the worst customer service in the industry improve ourselves? I know, let's have even less services.
Incredible. Just incredible.
WTF!?!?
This article just got me rolling...
Ahh... It hearkens me back to the good ol' days of the tin lizzy and the Ford Quadracycle. They had the right idea then. By law, when approaching an intersection, the operator must stop 50 yards back, dismount, walk to the intersection, ensure no horse and buggy traffic, fire a shotgun into the air (3 times) and then may proceed through the intersection.
Good times... good times.
Edit: Funny thing is, this doesn't show up in News of the Weird...

Wha?
Why do loafs of bread come in odd number slices? I mean, how many slices do you use for a sandwich? How many do you grab to make toast? So, why do they cut them in odd numbers?

Crack team of what?
I saw this little news article via Tam. I didn't get much farther than the first paragraph before my internal snark meter zeroed in on the visual....
"A crack team of cybernauts will form a rapid response internet “war room” to track and respond..."
What exactly is a crack team of "cybernauts". What exactly constitutes the "right stuff" for a cybernaut? I can just imagine the selection process. "Son, you were only able to troll 7 porn sites, that's just not good enough. We're gonna have to send you back down."
I imagine this room filled with pimply, socially inept boys in stained t-shirts and y-fronts frantically entering search terms into Google. Sort of like what I'm wearing now.... Or was that too much information?

All hail the police state?
In what to me is a completely mind boggling move. The Washington D.C. police Chief Cathy L. Lanier and Mayor Adrian M. Fenty have wholeheartedly and some might say lovingly embraced a Nazi-style police state. It seems after having outlawed guns in our lovely nations capitol, they can't keep up with the rampant gun violence. (Hint: When you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns.) So, in an effort to put a band-aid over the sucking chest wound, they're setting up "Neighborhood Safety Zones". This is where they set up a cordon around a neighborhood and stop any and all cars. Demand their papers please and you'd better have a damn good reason for driving on a public street or you're going to jail.
America, land of the free... Well, not so much anymore.
You know, this is the city that house some of our countries most iconic documents. The U.S. Constitution. The Declaration of Independence. The Bill of Rights. The Federalists Papers. Maybe we should consider calling up a SEAL team to go in and rescue these papers from the totalitarian regime that is holding them hostage.
It's our freedoms that make this country so great. It's what has half of the rest of world either envious and jumping everything to get into the country or jealous and trying to blow us up. And to watch those very freedoms get trampled into the dust by jackbooted yahoos that probably couldn't tell a constitutional right if it jumped into their lap and yelled "Wheee!".
I've said this before. When I see things like this, I don't worry that our civilization is going to collapse. I know it already has.
