When I read stuff like this:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/01/02/aclu-others-slam-obama-for-signing-defense-bill-that-includes-detainee/
It makes me really think we need a truly strict constitutionalists as our next president. Someone who will look at this and strike it off the books on principle.

Education and WTF?
I was pointed to this news article today at http://www.msn.com/.
University Undead? Students Study Zombies in New Course.
The payoff is farther down the article when they give examples of other courses offered by universities around the country.
Hey, I've got some ideas for college classes. How about....
or for Masters Level work

The payoff is farther down the article when they give examples of other courses offered by universities around the country.
And in a larger context, Blumberg’s zombie class aligns well with a spate of other offbeat courses at universities across the country. At Georgetown University, students have the option of enrolling in the “Philosophy and Star Trek” course. Students at Bowdoin College in Maine can take classes called “The Souls of Animals” and “Tolkien’s Middle Ages.”Srsly?!?! They get to study the philosophy of Star Trek? Soap Operas? Don't get me wrong, I will admit to spending more than one night of my geekdom on Star Trek. But I did it for the sheer enjoyment of it and not for college credit. I think that was very magnanimous of me.
In 2007, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s comparative media studies program began offering a course titled “American Pro Wrestling.” The same department also offered a course in 2008 exploring American soap operas.

You know all those stupid courses on Oprah and Soap Operas you took? They won't help you now.

This is almost a twist worthy of M. Knight Shambala
In it's usual Bus/scapegoat/toss methodology. The White House today made an announcement that something that someone said was wrong and all their fault and not the WH's. Except that this time that someone was the boss.
President Obama's PR Blunder Is "Purely" His Own Fault Says...White House Official?
The money quote and big hat tip go to Snarkybytes and his post here.

Typical of the regime...
I was handed an article today from an old campaigner that came out to the range. Just a short 3 paragraph blurb buried in the back of The American Legion Magazine. I was unable to find a link to the article so I'm reproducing it here. Again this is from the August 2010 issue of The American Legion Magazine and is their sole copyright.
Or as one of the former marines here put it, "UN-fucking-believable".
The only question that I have is the comment about "unintended consequences". The consequences are there for anyone to see. This system will only cause more deaths of our troops while serving to encourage and embolden the "peace loving" muslim terrorists. I honestly believe whoever thought this grand scheme up fully realizes what he or she is doing and what it will cost on blood and suffering to our side.
Hoping to win more hearts and minds in Afghanistan, the United States and its NATO allies are planning a commendation to recognize "courageous restraint" among troops in the field. According to a NATO statement, the goal would be to "celebrate the troops who exhibit extraordinary courage and self-control by not using their weapons."
The notion that there needs to be a commendation for restraint seems to be based on the false and faulty premise that U.S. forces haven't used restraint to date. In fact, they comprise the most lethal force in history, which makes their restraint all the more impressive.
Plus, the people who know best - those who have served - worry about the unintended consequences of rewarding and thereby encouraging "courageous restraint." As American Legion National Commander Clarence Hill Observes, "Too much restraint will get our own people killed ... The proposal to award medals for holding fire is troubling because it is symptomatic of a growing culture in the military that will punish troops making split-second decisions while they are expected to defend themselves and their comrades."

Scary thought today.
About a week ago the Wall Street Journal did a survey of 5000 adults on 8 basic economics questions. The survey ask 8 simple questions like "Mandatory licensing of professional services increases the prices for those services" and the person had 5 choices; Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. The interesting thing is the survey only counted those answers that were incorrect. And then they broke the respondents into political groups. Conservative, Libertarian, Moderate, Progressive and Liberal.
Not surprisingly those adults who classed themselves as Progressive and Liberal couldn't get 3 out of the 8 questions correct.
I remember reading about the survey last week and it wasn't till today that the scary thought hit me.
These types who can't figure out 8 simple economic relationships are the people who are running our economy right now!

Ah Spring...
When a young man's thoughts lightly turn to fancy...
Or thoughts fancy turn to light. Something like that anyway. You know what the view outside my apartment looks like right now? First day of spring?

Worries? No Worries. Aftermath
Just so you all know. The cost of flying Air force One to Europe so the great 0 could get kicked with a reality boot and not get the "Chicago corruption machine"(TM) the Olympics was $900,000 dollars... US... But he'll just print more. So no worries.
Oh and that's just the 747, not the 2 C-17's or ancillary planes and vehicles. How long was he there? 50 minutes?
Remember the economy? It's still tanking. Or Afghanistan? Still fighting going on there. What else did he promise? I guess you can name it and safely say he didn't keep that either.
But on the topic of Afghanistan. This last week he said he needed a few weeks to evaluate the situation and formulate a strategy. W! T! F! He's had nearly a year since he was elected. Even longer if you take it from the time in the campaign when he first stated his platform on the matter. He's just now looking into it?
Hey 0! You're the president. You don't get to hand in assignments late. There's no partial credit in that job. Do your G... D... homework BEFORE it's too late.
Douche.

Beer Diplomacy
Today, we witnessed the dawning of a new era in politics.
Well, not really. What we saw was the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES engaging two men from a relatively small community in a conversation. You'd think the man in charge of the most powerful (so far) nation on earth would have something better to do. Like, um, run the country?
Here's my take on this. The "0" is in over his head, he's realizing it, so he's going back to what he has experience in. Namely, community activism.
Here's a man who spent less than 200 days in his senate seat voting "present" before he started running for the oval office. Prior to that the biggest bullet point on his resume was as a community organizer in Chicago.
He's figured out he's over his head. His handlers know that to, so to try to give him some sort of victory in office, no matter how small, they've orchestrated this minor news blurb in a Cambridge Police Blotter into a national news item/photo op.
Okay, let's get constitutional for a bit here. The Constitution (you remember that bit of paper) pretty clearly defines the powers and duties of the office of the president of this country. I just reread that section. I didn't see community organizer there anywhere. But don't take my word for it, read it for yourself. I'll wait.
Done? Good.
And even if the incident had required a response from the White House, don't you think that it could have been handled at a lower pay grade than this one? It has that stench of micro-management to me. But I guess will all the czars that the 0 has appointed to run all the other aspects of the golem that we've created that is the federal government, he's pretty much only got this on his honey-do's list.
The paranoid hind-brain of mine keeps knocking me with this little idea too.
If 0bama's press conferences are heavily scripted. And if the media is so in the tank for him that they wouldn't deviate from the script. Who let that question be asked and what are they trying to distract us from?

I tried really hard.
Honestly, I did. I tried not to make a political blog. I even went a couple of weeks. Cold turkey and everything. But this, which led me to this, just goes beyond stupid. Does he have that little regard for what his actions say. Or is it just that he doesn't care. He's the top dog now and dammit, he's going to rub our less-than noses in it. What extant the hubris?
And why is it not reported in the US MSM? That's a UK site there. Can you imagine what the outcry would have been if either Bush had done something like this?
I fly for a living and I can tell you that the cost of each pizza after factoring in the costs of a chartered jet would keep many of us well fed for a year.

Un. Fucking. Believable.
Yesterday was not a good day. I'd read about Mr. Hopeychangy's plan to drop our injured vets and his defunding of the Federal Flightdeck Safety Officer Program. I did some surfing around to find out more and the more I read, the more I just went ballistic. I've written a couple of posts and had to trash them because they devolved into barely semi-coherent run on sentences that would be generous to call rants.
First off, to take $2M from the FDSO and try to tout his "fiscal responsibility" in the face of the 9000 earmarks in the last bill is the acme of delusional thought.
Second, the end of the FDSO program means we're taking a step backwards in the safety of air travel. Full Stop.
Now, about the whole leaving the vets high and dry.
I'm surprised at myself. I would have thought that the man who supposedly is the commander-in-chief of our armed forces would have the honor to support these men and women. Why would I think that this person would have anything that would even simulate honor, or integrity, or well, guilt.
This just illustrates the type of thing we've put in the oval office. Billions for the entitlement generation that put him in there. Less than nothing for the man and women who, voluntarily, have given up basic rights to protect us. Did you get that, us. We. You and I. Everyone in this country. There's no picking and choosing for them. They can't say, "I'm here for you but not you.", or "This deserves protection, but that doesn't." I guess that's the pervue of the Yes We Can crowd.
It must be getting crowded under that bus.

It's 10:45...
What are your neighbors doing? Mine? Glad you asked. They're in the middle of one of their weekly domestic disputes. Only this time she's banging on my door to use my phone to call the police her mom her friend. Tears flowing, screaming her boyfriend live in loser pulled a knife on her. But it gets better, there's alcohol involved. Then he's outside and it becomes a he said/she said fiasco. Improv theater, gotta love it.
I made sure she had somewhere else to go for the night (her mom's) and a way to get there (her car).
I so have to find another place to live. At least the last neighbors with the meth lab were quieter.

Apparently our serving troops, out there on the sharp end defending us, don't rate as highly as our moneyed elite first class or business class passengers. It's important that our troops know we support them and we're thankful for their sacrifices. Let's just not let AA show us how.
When you make 16,000 per year like our enlisted troops do, $100 to $300 dollars is just rolling around free for the taking in our wallets. Whether or not these men get reimbursed eventually (I was in the Army, I know what it's like trying to get money out of them) they're being subjected to an unnecessary hardship.
Let's all take our hats off to AA. In a customer service based industry, they really know how to roll out the red carpet. Let's keep our customers happy.

Authorities: Autopsy shows woman in baby mystery was eviscerated, uterus cut open
PITTSBURGH (Associated Press) -- Investigators on Saturday were trying to identify the body of a woman found bound with duct tape with her uterus cut open in the apartment of another woman who falsely claimed a newborn baby was her own.
Allegheny County Police Assistant Superintendent James Morton said investigators were also trying to verify that the dead woman was the mother of a baby brought by Andrea Curry-Demus to West Penn Hospital on Thursday night.
"Circumstances would dictate that it has to be. There can't be too many cases similar to this at the same time," Allegheny County Medical Examiner Dr. Karl Williams said.
Morton said the woman's fingerprints didn't match any of those in a police database and she had no identifying scars or tattoos. Williams said dental records would be used to try to identify her.
The body was found Friday after reporters called authorities about a foul odor coming from inside Curry-Demus' Wilkinsburg apartment. Police had been at the building Thursday night, but did not go into that apartment, Wilkinsburg Police Chief Ophelia Coleman said. Instead, a relative of Curry-Demus led them to another apartment, she said.
The woman appeared to have been dead for about two days, Williams said. Her hands and feet were bound with duct tape, and her face was covered with a plastic material that had also been secured with duct tape.
"We found a lot of evidence of a struggle having occurred," Williams said. He said there was evidence of drugs at the scene and investigators will look for their presence in the victim's system.
The cause of death had not been determined, Williams said.
The baby was "apparently doing well" although there had been problems initially with a low heart rate and low temperature associated with blood loss, Williams said. The hospital would not release any information about the child.
According to police, Curry-Demus showed up at the hospital Thursday with a newborn that still had the umbilical cord attached. Tests later proved that she was not the mother.
Curry-Demus then told police she miscarried in June and didn't want to upset her own mother by telling her she had lost the baby. She said she befriended a pregnant woman and discussed buying her child when it was born, according to the criminal complaint. Curry-Demus told police she paid a woman named Tina $1,000 for the baby.
Curry-Demus was charged with child endangerment and dealing in infant children. She has been jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond and a psychiatric exam.
Morton said further charges in the case would be filed after the body is identified.
Jail officials declined to say if Curry-Demus had an attorney, and Morton said he didn't know. An attorney who once represented her did not immediately respond to a phone message left Saturday.
Ivee Blunt, a neighbor who attended a shower for Curry-Demus, said she wanted her in the delivery room when she delivered. Blunt said Curry-Demus told her on Sunday night that she expected to have the baby the next day, but on Monday said she wasn't ready to give birth.
In 1990, Curry-Demus, then known as Andrea Curry, was accused of stabbing a Wilkinsburg woman in an alleged plot to steal the woman's infant. A day after the stabbing, Curry-Demus snatched a 3-week-old baby girl from Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The baby was found unharmed with Curry-Demus at her home the next day.
Curry-Demus pleaded guilty in 1991 to various charges stemming from both incidents and was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison, according to court records. She was paroled in August 1998 and began serving a 10-year probation term.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. When I read about things like this, I don't worry that our society is collapsing. I know it already has. Really a sad, sad glimpse on what our feral humams are doing out there. The amazing thing is this goblin had done it before. Apparently the only thing she learned from the last time she did this was to make sure the mother was dead. This thing has deep deep problems and shouldn't have been let anywhere near mothers or babies. Lets hope this time when the courts finish with her, that will be true.

Man sues Tenn. church for injuries after claiming spirit of God forced him to fall
07-10-2008 12:45 PM
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Associated Press) --
A man says he was so consumed by the spirit of God that he fell and hit his head while worshipping.
Now he wants Lakewind Church to pay $2.5 million for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering.
Matt Lincoln says he is suing after the church's insurance company denied his claim for medical bills.
The 57-year-old has had two surgeries since the June 2007 injury but still feels pain in his back and legs.
He says he was asking God to have "a real experience" while praying.
Lincoln says he has fallen from the force of the spirit before but has always been caught by someone.
Lawyers for the church say other congregants saw him on the floor laughing after his fall. They say he failed to look out for his own safety.

Because nobody's to blame. Except maybe God. I mean he made everything, didn't he? And failed to place the warning labels where we all could see them. I mean sheesh, where was the legal department when God was setting the whole universe up?
