AR Build Update.

I know it's been a while. I haven't left it on the back burner, believe me. Today, I picked up an M16 bolt carrier group and assembled it. I thought I had found an AR BCG, but when I got there, the guy said all he had were M16 carriers, so for only $20 more, I went for it. Below is a picture of the current state of the build. As you can see and I blogged about a while ago, the lower is completed.

And that's an EOTech 556 holographic sight in the upper right hand corner.

Trust me, putting the bolt together is a pretty easy task. If you have one of these.

UM, Jim, you might want to take a break and consider that the BATFEIEIO take a dim view of ANY m16 parts in an AR and will consider that to be your botched attempt to convert this gun to full auto. Not paranoid just leary.

Looking good, and yes TX does have a point... WE know you're not that type, but...

Then the VPC will be spinning that much faster 'cause all the parts that convert an AR are in the LOWER receiver. The only difference between an AR BCG and an M16 BCG is the M16 one is a bit beefier.

Actually Jim, the difference is in the rear of the carrier, it is a little longer so it can trip the autosear. That is a very important difference as the AR carrier is not able to trip the autosear alowing the gun to properly operate full auto. It may just look beefier but that is the reason why the back end is heavier. The rest of the parts are part of the fire control group in the lower.

I have a billet lower setting on my desk waiting for a Stag Arms lower parts kit to arrive. It should be here tomorrow. I have the roll pin punches, starters, etc., gathered.
